Quality control at the Indonesian Squier factory is overseen by Fender.

Fender design many of the parts used in Squire guitars, including both the pickups and the strings on this bass.

The PJ bass is based upon a Fender precision bass that then mixes in sounds from a Fender jazz pickup near the bridge to greatly increase the range of available tones.

With the precision bass pickup volume up and jazz bass pickup volume down, the bass produces a dark, fat, punchy, low-mid frequency growl.

The solid fundamental tone of a P bass makes it suitable for use in rock, country, punk, surf and grunge.

With the jazz bass pickup volume up and precision bass pickup volume down, the bass produces a brighter more complex sound with more attack, that can be used to play more precise passages in genres such as jazz, fusion or prog metal.

The variety of blended sounds combining both the P & J pickups at once is created using the 2 volume controls, plus finger playing position over the two pickups.

The bass body is built from alder tone wood, the neck is built from maple tone wood with an Indian Laurel wood fretboard. The body resonates well and for a reasonable time.

The body shape is based upon the Fender precision bass body design. The wood beveling and rounded edging make this a comfortable bass.

The bridge pickup is a Fender designed ceramic single-coil jazz bass (J pickup)The neck pickup is a Fender designed ceramic standard split-coil precision bass (P pickup) with height adjustment.

This is a passive electric bass, no batteries required.

The chrome steel bridge has adjustable saddles for easy string height adjustment and intonation, plus has wide string spacings. The one-piece steel bridge readily transfers string vibrations into the body wood.

Tone and volume: 3 knurled flat-top rotary knobs: 1. precision pickup volume, 2. jazz pickup volume, 3. master tone.

The paint job: body finish is gloss polyurethane; the neck finish is satin urethane with dot inlays in the fretboard.

The 4 bolt neck readily transfers string vibrations into the body wood and is based upon the Fender jazz bass slim “C” neck design, which is comfortable and easy to play. The truss rod inside the neck is accessed just above the nut and allows for easy neck adjustment.Other technical details:

Scale length: 34″, fingerboard radius 9.5″, 20 medium jumbo frets, synthetic bone nut, nut width 1.625, die-cast steel open gear vintage design tuners, weight 9.5 kilograms, strings: Fender 7250ML nickel plated round wound steel – 0.045 – 0.105 gauges, large 3-ply scratch plate, standard ¼” instrument output jack in the edge of the body.
