Xotic XJ1T 5 string bass high end Japanese. If you’ve never played one of these or even heard of them, you’re definitely missing out. Simply put these are incredible basses, the build quality is as good as any bass going around. The tone is fantastic, it’s along the jazz bass theme but with more. I’ve played and owned a lot of basses as many of you would be aware, these are right at the top of the pile. In passive they sound like a really good jazz bass, then active takes you into Sadowsky territory but more organic than any Sadowsky. I have one in my personal collection and I love it, the neck is as close to perfect that you’ll find. It’s the kind of bass you don’t want to put down, they’re so even across the fretboard, whether you’re soloing, playing chords or playing basic rock root notes, it just sounds so good. This bass is brand new, it’s new old stock. It’s an alder body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard. The controls look complicated but they’re super simply. You have a volume (pull up for passive), pickup pan, tone control that works in passive and active, bass, mid and treble. The two toggle switches are mid and treble frequency changes. All of this is actually really useful or just pull up on the volume pot and bypass all the active circuit and get a real good simple jazz bass tone.

I love the timber pickup covers, no hitting magnets with your fingers, strings or a pick and they make the bass sound good. The one has a low action and straight neck, has new strings too.If you’ve never heard of Xotic, they make guitars, basses and pedals, an American company that focuses on attention to detail. This bass won’t disappoint in any way. These retail around $5500 now so get yourself a great price, with full warranty. I’m happy to look at trades, can look at layby too. I’m happy to freight anywhere in Australia. Please check out my other basses for sale.
